RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Fresh off his first title of the year, promising Indonesian youngster Richie Duta Richardo is setting his sights on breaking into the BWF Super 100 level as he looks to accelerate his rise within the national training system.

Richie claimed the Vietnam International Challenge 2026 crown in Hanoi over the weekend, defeating Taiwan’s Ju-Sheng Cheng in straight games 21-13, 21-14 in the final. The victory marked an important milestone for the men’s singles junior player aiming for promotion to the main squad at Indonesia’s national training center (Pelatnas PBSI).

“Of course, I’m happy because this is my first title this year,” Richie said in an official statement on Monday, March 30, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He credited his win to prior experience against Cheng, whom he had beaten in three games at the Wondr by BNI Indonesia International Challenge I 2025. That earlier encounter helped him better understand his opponent’s playing style and prepare an effective strategy for the final.

“I already knew his pattern of play and what to prepare for the final,” he added.

The Hanoi triumph has boosted Richie’s confidence heading into future tournaments, while reinforcing his ambition to compete at a higher level. He now aims to win at the BWF Super 100 tier to secure promotion to Indonesia’s main men’s singles squad.

“My next target is to win at the BWF Super 100 level so I can move up to the main squad and compete at a higher level,” Richie further said.
