RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has firmly established its status as a global martial arts powerhouse by clinching a prestigious third-place overall finish at the 10th World Junior Wushu Championships in Tianjin, China. Closing the competition on March 30, 2026, the junior national team returns home with a formidable haul of 27 medals, proving the nation’s talent pipeline remains among the world's elite.

As reported by Antara, the Indonesian squad’s performance was headlined by standout athletes Noach Daiki Santoso and Clara Abigail. Both emerged as the championship's brightest stars by securing two gold medals each.

Noach, a student from Semarang, dominated the Male Group A Nan Gun and Nan Dao events, while also adding a silver in Nan Quan. Reflecting on his debut on the world stage, Noach expressed immense pride in hearing the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, echo through the arena.

He noted that the achievement served as a "valuable experience" and a testament to the "hard work and relentless training" he endured leading up to the tournament.

Matching this excellence, Clara Abigail from Surabaya claimed double gold in the Female Group B Nan Quan and Nan Gun categories, alongside a silver in Nan Dao. For Clara, the victory transcended the physical prizes.

She described her medals as a "symbol of a long journey filled with sacrifice," emphasizing that the physical awards bring only temporary joy. She further noted that the experience of representing her country at an international level would be a lifelong treasure.

The total tally of 9 gold, 11 silver, and 7 bronze medals placed Indonesia just behind powerhouse nations China and Hong Kong, who secured the first and second ranks respectively. This year’s result mirrors the consistency of the Indonesian program; in the previous 9th edition in 2024, the team secured 29 medals.

Other gold medalists who contributed to this year's success included Kay Jayden Rondonuwu, Jenny Ngaserin, Utiqo Romadhona Ummi Auna, Terfi Meisa, and Vini Nur Azizah, showcasing the depth of talent across various age groups and disciplines.

The Chairperson of the Indonesian Wushu Association (PB WI), Airlangga Hartarto, lauded the tenacity of the young athletes in the face of increasingly stiff global competition. In an official statement released in Jakarta on Monday, he highlighted that these juniors are the architects of Indonesia's sporting future.

"The struggle of our young Indonesian athletes has been extraordinary. Amidst such fierce competition, the Indonesian Junior Wushu Team was still able to bring home 27 medals and place Indonesia in third rank at the 10th World Junior Wushu Championships 2026," said Airlangga.

He further emphasized that these competitors are "future stars" expected to eventually succeed their senior counterparts. Airlangga noted that they are destined to continue hoisting the Merah Putih flag at both single-event and multi-sport international championships in the years to come.
