RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia secured three spots in the semifinals of the 2026 Ruichang China Masters on Friday, March 13, 2026, thanks to strong performances from the women’s doubles pair Lanny Tria Mayasari/Apriyani Rahayu, women’s singles player Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, and men’s singles shuttler Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo at Ruichang Sports Park Gym in China.
Seventh-seeded Lanny/Apriyani dominated the court in straight sets, defeating Taiwan’s Hsien Mi Yen/Yu Chien Hui 21-9, 21-17. The Indonesian duo controlled the first game from the start, leading 11-6 at the interval and maintaining pressure with quick, varied attacks that left their opponents struggling.
Although the second game was tighter and the pair briefly trailed after the interval, adjustments in attack intensity and defense enabled them to reclaim control and secure victory, Antara reported.
In women’s singles, 19-year-old Dhinda delivered a stunning upset over top-seeded Tung Ciou-Tong of Taiwan, winning 21-10, 22-20. Dhinda started aggressively with a six-point streak and built a commanding 11-3 lead at the first interval. Despite facing pressure in the second game, she prevailed in critical points to seal her semifinal berth.
On the men’s side, top seed Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo maintained his strong form with a convincing 21-14, 21-14 win over South Korea’s Choi Ji-hoon. According to the official BWF website, he has already advanced to the final after his prospective opponent, Parak Sang Yong of South Korea, withdrew from the tournament.
However, Indonesia also saw some early exits in the quarterfinals. Men’s singles player Muhamad Yusuf fell to China’s Sun Chao 19-21, 19-21, while women’s singles Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari lost to Thailand’s Tonrug Saeheng 13-21, 16-21.
In women’s doubles, Siti Sarah Az Zahra/Az Zahra Ditya Ramadhani were defeated in three games by the Australia/Canada pair Gronya Somerville/Josephine Wu, 12-21, 21-13, 17-21.
With three athletes progressing to the semifinals, Indonesia remains in contention for additional titles at the Ruichang China Masters 2026. ***
