RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Jakarta will make motorsport history this year when the Indonesian capital hosts a round of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Rallycross World Cup at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol, scheduled for December 5-6, 2026.
The event marks the first time the rallycross discipline expands to Southeast Asia, part of the FIA effort to broaden the sport’s global reach and attract new motorsport audiences.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said the World Cup format allows the sport to stage standalone competitions in different regions, bringing together drivers from across the world. “The FIA Rallycross World Cup will give fans the opportunity to see this discipline on the world stage in 2026 by bringing together drivers from various regions,” Ben Sulayem said in an official statement on Tuesday, March 10, as quoted by Antara.
Although rallycross has traditionally had a strong following in Europe, the race in Indonesia is expected to expand participation and strengthen the sport’s global footprint. The competition will feature top drivers racing Euro RX1 cars powered by internal combustion engines, following the classic rallycross format known for intense wheel-to-wheel action on short circuits.
For the event, the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit will be modified into a rallycross track combining asphalt and gravel surfaces to replicate the sport’s fast and competitive racing conditions. The FIA will organize the race in partnership with Indonesian sports and entertainment ecosystem company SARGA.CO.
SARGA Group founder Aryo PS Djojohadikusumo said the collaboration aims to bring world-class motorsport championships to Indonesia while supporting the growth of the national motorsport industry. “We are very excited to partner with the FIA to bring a world-class motorsport championship to Indonesia and support the development of the national motorsport industry,” Aryo said.
SARGA.CO co-founder and CEO Aseanto Oudang added that hosting the FIA Rallycross World Cup would be a significant moment for the Indonesian sports and entertainment sector. “Hosting the first FIA Rallycross World Cup in Jakarta is a major step for the sports and entertainment landscape in Indonesia. We want to deliver a new experience for fans across the country,” Aseanto said.
In addition to spectators attending the race in person, the FIA confirmed that the event will be broadcast live worldwide through the official FIA Rallycross YouTube channel. ***
