RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Fresh off a series of European tournaments, the Indonesian badminton team wasted no time adjusting to new surroundings, holding their first training session immediately upon arrival in Basel, preparing for the BWF World Tour Super 300 Swiss Open 2026, set to take place from March 10–15.

The session on Monday morning focused on maintaining physical condition after the long travel and recent competitions. Some players trained on court, while others worked in the gym to aid recovery and preserve stamina.

Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) physical trainer Ahmad Jaelani explained that the opening session emphasized muscle strength maintenance, particularly for doubles players scheduled to compete the following day.

“This morning’s program was more about maintaining power, since the men’s and women’s doubles teams start on Tuesday,” Jaelani said in a PBSI statement, as quoted by Antara.

He noted that the workload was deliberately kept light, with six exercise stations performed in two sets of 10 repetitions, preceded by mobility drills, activation routines, and jogging.

“The intensity wasn’t heavy, as the players are still in recovery mode after the previous tournaments,” he added, confirming that all team members were in good physical condition ahead of further training later in the day at the competition venue.

The Swiss Open marks the continuation of Indonesia’s European tour. Women’s doubles pair Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, for example, are competing in their third consecutive tournament following the German Open and All England.

Maintaining fitness has become crucial as players navigate a demanding schedule. Indonesia initially planned to field 16 representatives, but the number was reduced to 14 after women’s doubles duo Isyana Syahira Meida/Rinjani Kwinara Nastine withdrew due to injury, and mixed doubles pair Bobby Setiabudi/Melati Daeva Oktavianti opted out for technical reasons.

A total of 14 Indonesian representatives will compete across five categories at the Swiss Open 2026. In men’s singles, the team will be represented by Alwi Farhan, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. In women’s singles, Putri Kusuma Wardani will carry the flag.

The men’s doubles contingent includes Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin, Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana, as well as Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Rahmat Hidayat.

In women’s doubles, Rachel Allessya Rose and Febi Setianingrum, Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari, along with Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi, will compete.

Meanwhile, the mixed doubles sector features Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah, Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, and Dejan Ferdinansyah with Bernadine Anindya Wardana. ***
