RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) sees encouraging signs from its next generation of players despite the team leaving the All England Open Badminton Championships 2026 without a title.

The PBSI praised the performance of its young shuttlers at the prestigious BWF World Tour event, saying their competitiveness reflects progress in Indonesia’s ongoing player regeneration program.

“Overall, we see two sides from Indonesia’s results at this year’s All England. On the positive side, the development of our young players has shown quite encouraging progress. They were able to compete in a tournament with the level and pressure of the All England,” PBSI head of development and achievement Eng Hian said in a statement on Monday, March 9, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

“This is an indicator that the regeneration process is running and that young players are starting to compete at the highest level,” he added.

Men’s doubles pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin emerged as one of the tournament’s surprise performers, reaching the semifinals in their debut appearance at the BWF Super 1000 event.

The duo, who won the Australia Open 2025, defeated the fifth-seeded and third-seeded pairs during their run in the tournament.

Even when facing the world number one pair and defending champions in the semifinals, Raymond and Joaquin managed to put up strong resistance. Their performance, according to PBSI, shows that the pair has the potential and quality to continue developing in the future.

Despite the promising displays from younger players, Indonesia ultimately failed to secure a title at All England 2026. Raymond and Joaquin recorded the country’s best result by reaching the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s representatives in the other four sectors, men’s singles, women’s singles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, were eliminated in the quarterfinals. ***
