RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen is set for a reunion-turned-rivalry at the 2026 BNP Paribas Open doubles draw, where she will face former partner Katarzyna Piter in the first round. Competing at the WTA 1000 Indian Wells tournament, Janice will team up with Taipei’s Chan Hao-ching to take on the duo of Piter and Slovenia’s Andreja Klepac on Friday, March 6, 2026, Antara reported.

Janice and Piter previously enjoyed success together, winning the WTA 250 Guangzhou title last year. The pair also started the 2026 season strongly by capturing the WTA 250 Hobart crown in January. They later competed together at the season’s first Grand Slam, the Australian Open, but were eliminated in the opening round.

During the Middle East swing, Janice partnered with different players, teaming up with Philippine player Alexandra Eala at the WTA 500 Abu Dhabi and Czech player Marie Bouzkova at the WTA 1000 Dubai. She reunited with Piter at the Merida Open last week, where the pair reached the semifinals.

The recent results have strengthened Janice’s profile in doubles, following a breakthrough in singles that saw her reach a career-high ranking of world No. 36 last week. The 23-year-old Jakarta-born player currently sits at No. 47 in the WTA doubles rankings, surpassing fellow Indonesian Aldila Sutjiadi, who is ranked No. 49.

The first-round match between Janice/Chan and Piter/Klepac is scheduled for Friday at 5:30 a.m. Jakarta time. Earlier in the singles event, Janice was eliminated after a tough battle against Jaqueline Cristian, losing 6-4, 4-6, 6-7(8) in a match that lasted two hours and 46 minutes. ***
