RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian skater Ni Wayan Malana Fairbrother has secured a place in the quarterfinals of the women’s street event at the 2025 Skateboarding World Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Wednesday, March 4, marking another milestone in her rising career. She impressed the judges with a score of 33.44, finishing seventh in the qualification round and earning a spot among the top 10 competitors.
According to World Skate records, her performance guaranteed progression to the next stage even before the final heat concluded.
Quoting Antara, Malana's journey through qualifying was not without setbacks. In her first run, she opened strongly on the downrails but stumbled on a second obstacle, leaving her in 11th place with a score of 14.42. The SEA Games 2025 silver medalist, however, rebounded in her second run, executing a series of clean tricks capped by a frontside flip that drew applause from the crowd. The routine earned her 33.44 points, propelling her from 13th to first place in her group.
While Malana advanced, fellow Indonesian skater Zeefara Mahika Darmawan fell short of qualifying in the same category. In the women’s park division, teammates Mikhayla Caya and Bunga Cinta are set to begin their qualifying rounds. On the men’s side, Sanggoe Tanjung and SEA Games 2025 gold medalist Basral Graito Hutomo will also compete in upcoming qualifiers.
The Indonesian national skateboarding team has been training intensively in Bali since February 1, with preparations continuing until September 19, 2026, as part of their build-up to the Asian Games in Nagoya later this year. Malana’s success in Sao Paulo adds momentum to Indonesia’s campaign, signaling the country’s growing presence in the global skateboarding arena. ***
