RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Federation of Horse Sports (FN Pordasi) is intensifying outreach and competitions to build an inclusive and sustainable equestrian ecosystem, now structured under four national federations: FN Pordasi Pacu, FN Pordasi Equestrian, FN Pordasi Polo, and FN Pordasi Horseback Archery.

Within FN Pordasi Horseback Archery, efforts are underway to transform the discipline by blending tradition and cultural heritage with a performance-driven approach.

“Horseback archery is a unique sport that unites historical values with athlete development. In Indonesia, its growth has been significant; we already have 17 provinces as members, and that number may continue to rise,” FN Pordasi Horseback Archery Secretary General Luthfi Syaifullah Zubir said in an official statement from Jakarta on Monday, March 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The federation is also setting standards for ideal horses, encouraging the use of local breeds in competitions.

Several tournaments are already on the 2026 calendar, including Liga Santri Indonesia Series 1 (April 3–5 in Central Java), the 3rd National Championship (June 12–14 in Jakarta and West Java), Liga Santri Indonesia Series 2 (August 7–9 in Bali), the Asian Horseback Archery Championship (October), and Liga Santri Indonesia Series 3 (December 4–6 in Banten).

Meanwhile, FN Pordasi Pacu is determined to advance horse racing as a driver of livestock industries, grassroots economic activity through MSMEs, and tourism. The enthusiasm was evident at the Pacu Kuda event during the 21st National Sports Week (PON XXI) in Takengon, Central Aceh, which drew 120,000 spectators.

FN Pordasi Equestrian is focusing on strengthening athlete development systems and organizational professionalism to enhance competitiveness nationally and internationally. Currently, 13 provincial boards are actively running training programs.

“In this sport, both humans and horses are athletes. Both must be prepared to the fullest through intensive and continuous training,” FN Pordasi Equestrian Chairwoman Dewi Larasati said.

FN Pordasi Polo Indonesia, on the other hand, is committed to developing polo not only for performance but also as part of a broader ecosystem -- covering athlete training, improving local horse quality, supporting industry growth, and integrating with tourism.

Following its organizational restructuring at the 14th National Congress in November 2024, Pordasi is now focused on building a mutually reinforcing ecosystem across its four federations, ensuring the long-term sustainability of horse sports in Indonesia. ***
