RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s young rider Veda Ega Pratama announced his arrival on the world stage with a strong performance in his Moto3 debut, finishing fifth after a fierce battle for the podium at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Representing Honda Team Asia, the 17-year-old from Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, impressed in the 19-lap season opener. Though he lost ground early, Veda clawed his way back into contention by lap six, joining the leading group and even holding third place for several laps before settling into fifth at the checkered flag.

The result signals his potential to be a serious contender in the championship.

Quoting Antara, the race was decided in thrilling fashion. David Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) took victory with a time of 32 minutes 14.186 seconds. Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Aspar Team) finished a mere 0.003 seconds behind, while Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) claimed third, 9.480 seconds adrift.

Starting from fifth on the grid, Veda matched his qualifying position at the finish, ending 9.687 seconds behind Almansa. His debut earned him 11 championship points, an encouraging haul for a first outing.

Consistency was the hallmark of Veda’s ride, as he held his own in the tight duels at the front until the final laps. His ability to recover from a slow start and maintain pace with the leaders highlighted both composure and skill.

The Moto3 field now heads to Brazil for the second round, scheduled for March 20–22, 2026, at the Autódromo Internacional de Goiânia, Ayrton Senna. That race, spanning 24 laps, will offer Veda another chance to build on his promising debut and strengthen his standing in the championship. ***
