Competing at the Westenergie Sporthalle in Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany, the Singapore-Indonesia duo secured a straight-games victory, 21-17, 21-13.

According to Antara, the win extends Hee and Gloria’s positive run in the tournament. In the round of 16, they knocked out fourth seeds Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje of Denmark in three games, 21-19, 15-21, 21-11.

The opening game unfolded in a tight contest from the outset. Goh and Lai led 6-4 before Hee and Gloria responded with four consecutive points to move ahead 11-9 at the interval. After the break, the Malaysian pair regained momentum and edged in front 16-15.

Hee and Gloria, however, held their composure in the closing stages. As their opponents committed several unforced errors, the cross-border duo capitalized on crucial points. A service error from Goh handed them game point at 20-17, and Gloria sealed the opener with a smash that Lai failed to return.

In the second game, Hee and Gloria took the initiative early, opening up a 7-3 lead. Although Goh and Lai drew level at 9-9, the newly formed pair, who were playing only their third tournament together, regained control to lead 11-9 at the interval.

They raised their intensity after the break, combining varied attacking play with tight defense to stretch the advantage to 20-12. After dropping one point due to a misjudged return, they closed out the match in the following rally to confirm their place in the last four.

In the semifinals, Hee and Gloria will face eighth seeds Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch of Denmark, who advanced after beating Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Julie Macpherson 21-11, 21-18.

The other semifinal will pit seventh seeds Cheng Xing and Zhang Chi of China against Taiwan’s Yang Po-Hsuan and Hu Ling Fang.

For Gloria, the semifinal berth presents an opportunity to match or surpass last year’s result at the German Open. In 2025, she reached the final alongside Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto but finished runner-up after losing 17-21, 12-21 to the cross-border pair of Robin Tabeling of the Netherlands and Alexandra Boje of Denmark. ***
