China Dominates Junior Fencing at Asian Championships in Jakarta

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - China stamped its authority on the junior division of the 2026 Asian Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships, clinching three gold medals on Wednesday, February 25, at the Jakarta Convention Centre, Senayan.

The breakthrough came from Jin Shixing, who delivered China’s first gold with a commanding 15–7 victory over Hong Kong’s Yuen Nok Man in the junior men’s individual epee final, Antara reported.

Zhu Linlin added to the tally by defeating Japan’s Takamizawa Yukari 15–12 in the junior women’s foil, while Pan Qimiao edged compatriot Wang Chenyi 15–14 in a tense all-China final.

Other nations also made their mark. Japan secured gold through Ono Ryoga, who overcame fellow countryman Maeda Masashi 15–12 in the junior men’s foil. Hong Kong celebrated success with Ho Pak Lam Hugo’s 15–11 win over Uzbekistan’s Urakbaev Alpamis in the junior men’s saber. Singapore broke East Asia’s dominance when Koh Elle Meihui captured gold in the junior women’s epee, making her the only Southeast Asian champion of the day.

The competition continues Thursday, February 26, with team events in junior men’s foil, junior women’s saber, and junior women’s epee. ***
