RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Fresh off its historic silver medal at the 2025 SEA Games, the Indonesian women’s futsal team is setting its sights on the ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship 2026 in Thailand, determined to build on its momentum.

Head coach Luis Estrela said his squad is ready for the challenge after completing a month-long training program. “We finished the fourth week of preparation. We started with 19 players, now we have 14. The team has improved, and I believe we are ready for the test,” Estrela said on the Indonesian futsal team’s official Instagram account, Monday, February 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Indonesia will compete in Group A alongside host nation Thailand and Malaysia. The team opens its campaign on Tuesday night, February 24, against Thailand before facing Malaysia the following day. Group B features Vietnam, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Australia. Only the top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, February 28, with the final and third-place playoff scheduled for Monday, March 2.

Estrela has selected 14 players for the tournament, including goalkeepers Riska Aprilia and Fitry Amelya; anchors Novita Murni Piranti, Diah Tri Lestari, and Nizrina Fauziah Permana; flankers Marsya Aulia Nurhalisa, Quisepina Anastasia T. Olin, Dhea Febrina Bangun, Fitri Rosdiana, Fitri Sundari, and Ikeu Rosita; and pivots Insyafadya Salsabillah, Agnes Matulapelwa, and Nisma Francida Rusdiana.

The Portuguese coach admitted preparations were not ideal due to the absence of friendly matches and minor health issues among players. “It’s important to note that we didn’t have the friendly games we wanted. Some players also had to recover from flu this week,” he said. “But there are no excuses; we are ready to face the challenge, and I’m very happy with the team’s work."

Indonesia enters the championship with renewed confidence after its SEA Games breakthrough, where Garuda Pertiwi stunned host Thailand in the semifinals before falling to Vietnam in the final. ***
