RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is solidifying its place on Asia’s motorsport stage as the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit secures an early slot on the 2026 GT World Challenge Asia calendar.

According to the provisional schedule released by SRO Motorsports Asia, the Mandalika round will take place on May 1–3, 2026, serving as the second stop of the season after the opener at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit.

President Director of the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), Priandi Satri, said hosting the 2026 race is expected to generate significant multiplier effects for both regional and national economies.

“This event also opens wider opportunities for Indonesian racing teams to compete in regional competitions with international standards. In the long term, consistency in hosting world-class events will strengthen the foundation of the national automotive and racing industry,” Priandi stated in Central Lombok on Thursday, February 19, as quoted by Antara.

The event’s return underscores Indonesia’s commitment to developing a world-class sports tourism ecosystem and elevating The Mandalika, Lombok, as a premier international racing destination.

The Mandalika round will feature a two-race format, each lasting one hour, renowned for its intense battles among factory-backed, professional, and Pro-Am teams. Its early-season placement is considered strategically significant, ensuring Southeast Asia’s strong representation on the prestigious GT3 calendar.

The Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is recognized for its technical layout, combining high-speed corners with challenging sectors. Situated in The Mandalika area, the venue offers sweeping views of the Indian Ocean and Lombok’s green hills, creating a distinctive racing experience for teams, drivers, and spectators alike.

The GT World Challenge Asia is regarded as one of the most competitive championships in the GT3 class, featuring cars from leading manufacturers such as Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, and Nissan. Each race weekend showcases a blend of speed, pit-stop strategy, tire management, and teamwork between two drivers sharing one car. ***
