RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian long-distance runner Robi Syianturi made history at the Sevilla Marathon in Spain on Sunday, February 15, 2026, by smashing both the Indonesian national and Southeast Asian marathon records.

Clocking an extraordinary time of 2 hours, 13 minutes, and 18 seconds, the 28-year-old athlete dominated the flat and fast Spanish course to solidify his status as the region's premier marathoner. This historic feat was achieved during the World Athletics Elite label event, where Robi successfully lowered the previous benchmarks to showcase the rising caliber of Indonesian athletics on the global stage.

The 28-year-old athlete expressed his deep gratitude for this historic achievement in an official statement on Monday, February 16, 2026. “I am very grateful to be able to break the record again at the Sevilla Marathon 2026; this achievement is for Indonesia, my family, and the entire running community that has always provided support,” Robi said, as quoted by Antara.

This milestone marks the third consecutive year that Robi has broken the national marathon record, following his previous successes at the 2024 Valencia Marathon and the 2025 Gold Coast Marathon. His latest feat adds to an impressive resume that includes a national half-marathon record of 1 hour, 3 minutes, and 24 seconds set at the 2025 Casablanca Marathon.

Robi also recently secured a gold medal in the marathon at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. The Sevilla Marathon itself is a prestigious World Athletics Elite label event held in the historic Spanish city.

Known for having one of the flattest and fastest routes in Europe, the race consistently attracts thousands of elite and recreational runners. The cool temperatures and scenic route past iconic landmarks make it an ideal stage for athletes chasing personal bests and international qualifications.

Robi’s performance in Sevilla solidifies his status as the fastest marathoner in Southeast Asia and highlights the positive trajectory of Indonesian athletics. During the race, the ASICS-sponsored athlete wore the ASICS Metaspeed Ray in a new white and purple colorway.

This high-performance footwear features FF LEAP technology and a carbon plate designed to maintain speed and optimize energy return. Yuya Sugiyama, Director of ASICS Indonesia, expressed immense pride in the athlete's continued progression.

“We are very proud of Robi's extraordinary achievement at the Sevilla Marathon 2026,” said Yuya Sugiyama.

He emphasized that the brand's support is a long-term commitment to encourage the development of the sport of running in Indonesia to the world level.

ASICS Indonesia remains dedicated to fostering national sporting achievements by sponsoring Indonesian athletes at various global running events. Following the success in Sevilla, the organization will continue its support for other local talents throughout the year.
