RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen marked an impressive debut at the Dubai Championship by defeating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
The victory secures her place in the second round of the WTA 1000 tournament. She will next face the winner of the match between Liudmila Samsonova and Leylah Fernandez on Monday, February 16, Antara.
Her opening match showcased resilience and control. Although Yastremska claimed the first game, Janice quickly turned the tide, taking a 2-1 lead.
After Yastremska leveled the score at 2-2, Janice regained momentum, winning the fifth game to move ahead 3-2. She maintained her advantage throughout the set, closing it 6-4, Antara reported.
