RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Two of the Philippines’ most celebrated billiards icons, Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante, are set to bring their legendary rivalry and camaraderie to Jakarta in a special exhibition event titled Pool Legacy, scheduled for February 10–12, 2026.
The three-day showcase will take place across multiple venues in the capital - Mantra Pool Academy, The Cue House, and Headquarter Barn Pool -offering fans a rare chance to witness the masters in action.
The format will see Reyes and Bustamante serve as team captains, each leading a squad composed of athletes, celebrities, and influencers. Beyond the team play, the two veterans will also face off in a one-on-one match, rekindling memories of their storied encounters.
Bustamante, now 62, expressed confidence in his enduring competitiveness.
“I’ve played against great players, including Reyes, and I’ve beaten him in the Philippines. He represents the number one in the world, but for me, that’s no surprise. If I enter a tournament, I can still win. Age is not an issue.”
Reyes, 71, responded with characteristic humor and humility.
“When I was younger, I was always ready to play anywhere. But now I’m old. I still play because it’s my hobby, but in tournaments, I don’t have a chance to win anymore,” he joked.
The event was made possible through Moor Production, which successfully persuaded both legends to bring their exhibition to Indonesia.
For Reyes, this marks his second visit in less than a year, following an appearance in April 2025. Bustamante, meanwhile, last played in Indonesia back in 2005 during an exhibition in Bali.
Founder of Moor Production and spokesperson for Indonesian Billiards Association (POBSI), Moory Susanto, emphasized the significance of their presence.
“In the world of billiards, these two names are still regarded as legends. Efren, of course, and Bustamante as well. They are the best partners in billiards history, with achievements ranging from SEA Games victories to countless individual and team titles,” Moory said. ***
