RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian U-17 national football team suffered a heavy 0-7 defeat against China in their first international friendly match at Indomilk Arena, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
The match exposed Indonesia’s defensive vulnerabilities as China dominated from the opening minutes and converted early pressure into goals.
Coached by Nova Arianto, Indonesia struggled to settle into the game and appeared nervous from the first whistle, Antara reported. China capitalized on the shaky start, opening the scoring in the 16th minute through Zhao Songyuan.
Ten minutes later, China doubled their lead. A quick counterattack ended with Wang Heyi scoring in the 25th minute after converting a rebound past goalkeeper Noah Leo Duvert.
China continued to build momentum and extended their advantage before halftime. Zhao Songyuan netted his second goal in the 42nd minute after dribbling past several Indonesian defenders, followed shortly by Shuai Weihao’s strike in the 44th minute to make it 4-0 at the break.
Indonesia’s difficulties persisted in the second half. Shuai Weihao scored his second goal in the 53rd minute, again finishing from a loose ball in the penalty area.
Nova Arianto attempted to change the flow of the match by introducing an additional striker, Nicholas Indra Mjoesund, midway through the second half. Mjoesund had a chance in the 69th minute, but his effort was blocked by the Chinese defense.
China added a sixth goal through Zhang Bolin, further widening the gap. Indonesia sought to respond through substitute I Komang Semadi Sanjana Putra, whose attempt from the left flank sailed over the crossbar.
In stoppage time, substitute Ailikamu Yilihong completed the rout by scoring China’s seventh goal, sealing a comprehensive 7-0 victory.
Indonesia’s U-17 squad for this match included only one alumnus from the 2025 U-17 World Cup, forward Mierza Firjatullah.
The second friendly match between the two teams is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Wednesday, February 11, at 6:30 p.m. Jakarta time.
