RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian shuttler Moh Zaki Ubaidillah secured a vital opening point for his country by defeating Thailand's Panitchapon Teeraratsakul 21-13, 22-20 in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Competing at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium in China, Ubaidillah’s straight-game victory effectively handed Indonesia a 1-0 temporary lead in their high-stakes knockout stage encounter against the Thai squad.

This win set a dominant tone for the team tie, as Ubaidillah successfully navigated a tense second-game comeback to ensure the Red and White squad gained the early upper hand in the race for the semifinals.

Ubaidillah, affectionately known as Ubed, stated that the key to his victory was his ability to adapt his playing style midway through the match. “In the second game, I was trailing 12-16, but the coach and captain who accompanied me from the sidelines kept reminding me that I could still catch up,” Ubed said, as quoted by Antara.

Ubed admitted that his previous victory over Panitchapon in the final of the 2026 Thailand Masters significantly boosted his confidence to perform at his best.

“The win against Panitchapon in the Thailand Masters final certainly had an impact. Now I am more prepared for his difficult shots; I have to be brave enough to push through the exhaustion,” Ubed remarked. ***
