Ester Wardoyo Secures Indonesia’s Semifinal Spot at BATC 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian women’s singles shuttler Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo delivered a decisive victory over Thailand’s Pornoicha Choeikeewong, winning 21-13, 21-16 in the quarterfinals of the Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) 2026 at Qingdao Qonson Gymnasium, China, on Friday, February 6.

Her triumph in the final match sealed Indonesia’s 3-2 win over Thailand, sending the national team through to the semifinals.

Earlier, Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan fell to Busanan Ongbamrungphan, before the doubles pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Meilysa Trias Puspitasari leveled the score with a straight-game victory over Tidapron Kleebyeesun/Nattamon Laisuan, Antara reported. 

Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi was then edged out by Pitchamon Opatniputh in a hard-fought rubber game, but Indonesia regained the lead when Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi defeated Thailand’s Hathaithip Majid/Napapakorn Tungkasatan in straight sets.

With the quarterfinal hurdle cleared, Indonesia now faces a formidable challenge against South Korea in the semifinals. Led by world No. 1 An Se Young, the Korean team advanced after sweeping Malaysia 3-0 in their quarterfinal tie. ***
