RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s first point in the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC) Group D decider was delivered by Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in a spirited performance against Malaysia.
Facing off at the Conson Gymnasium in Qingdao, China, Prahdiska defeated Eogene Ewe in a three-game thriller (21-12, 14-21, 21-15) to bring the overall score to 1-2.
This performance was a strategic breakthrough for the Indonesian delegation, as it successfully halted Malaysia's winning streak in the tie and provided the psychological boost necessary for the upcoming doubles and singles matches.
The young shuttler expressed his gratitude for being able to complete the match safely and secure a vital point for the team.
“Alhamdulillah (All praises to Allah), today I was given smoothness without any injuries, I could contribute a point for today,” Prahdiska stated in an official release from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) after the match, as quoted by Antara.
Prahdiska appeared dominant in the first game, controlling the tempo to win 21-12 before momentarily losing focus and allowing Ewe to level the score in the second. By the third game, he regained his consistency and maintained an early lead to secure the final 21-15 victory.
He emphasized the importance of staying aggressive and mentally strong during the high-pressure final set.
“In the third game, I managed to push through and win. From the start, I knew I couldn’t afford to fall behind because it was a decisive moment. I had to stay in control, so to speak. Above all, I believed in myself and trusted that I was stronger than him,” he added.
This result successfully brought Indonesia to a 1-2 standing after two previous losses in the tie. Earlier, men's singles player Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah fell to Justin Hoh 16-21, 19-21, while the doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana were defeated by Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap 13-21, 21-12, 13-21.
Indonesia still has the remaining matches to determine the final outcome of the Group D standings. The fourth match features Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin against Choong Hon Jian/Muhammad Haikal, followed by Anthony Sinisuka Ginting facing Kong Wei Xiang in the final slot. ***
