RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia made a commanding start to its title defense at the 2026 Badminton Asia Team Championships (BATC), sweeping Myanmar 5–0 in their opening Group D match at Qingdao Qonson Gymnasium, China, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
The victory provides valuable momentum as Indonesia looks to retain the championship trophy it secured last year.
“I was part of the team that won here last year, and I hope we can repeat that achievement. We’ll keep striving to deliver the best results, no matter who is fielded,” Indonesian shuttler Rahmat Hidayat said in a statement released by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) in Jakarta on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
In the first match, men’s singles player Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo defeated Htut Hein 21–14, 21–19. Anthony Sinisuka Ginting then doubled Indonesia’s lead with a 21–5, 21–11 win over Nyan Shaine Lin. Richiee Duta Richardo followed with a 21–5, 21–2 victory against Lal Zuidika.
The momentum continued in doubles, with Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rahmat Hidayat securing a 21–13, 21–12 win over Hein Htut/Phone Htet Zaw. Closing out the tie, Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana sealed Indonesia’s clean sweep by defeating Phyo Thurain/Lal Zuidika 21–4, 21–17.
