RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi, partnering with Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos, bowed out in the opening round of the Ostrava Open in the Czech Republic on Monday, February 2, 2026, after losing to the home duo Vendula Valdmannova and Julie Pastikova.

Competing on indoor hard courts, Aldila and Olmos rallied to level the match in the second set but were ultimately defeated in the super tie-break, with a final score of 4-6, 6-2, 1-10.

The Czech pair dominated the first set, firing three aces and avoiding double faults. Aldila and Olmos responded strongly in the second, converting both break-point opportunities and winning 64.3 percent of total points, according to WTA statistics. Despite their resurgence, the Indonesian-Mexican team could not sustain momentum, with the hosts closing out the match in just over an hour.

Aldila arrived in Ostrava after competing at the 2026 Australian Open, where she and Olmos exited in the second round against ninth seeds Nicole Michar-Martinez and Cristina Bucsa. The SEA Games 2025 women’s doubles gold medalist, alongside Janice Tjen, briefly returned to Jakarta for rest and training before heading to the Czech Republic.

While Aldila began her European campaign in Ostrava, her doubles partner from the SEA Games, Janice Tjen, traveled to Abu Dhabi after receiving a wildcard entry for the WTA 500 Mubadala Abu Dhabi Open. Tjen is set to face Australia’s Maya Joint in the singles draw and will team up with Filipino player Alex Eala in doubles competition. ***
