Indonesia Edge Iraq to Win Group A at AFC Futsal Asian Cup

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Indonesian national futsal team secured the top spot in Group A of the 2026 AFC Futsal Asian Cup after finishing the group stage with seven points, edging Iraq on goal difference despite both teams collecting the same total.
Indonesia confirmed its position as group leader after being held to a 1-1 draw by Iraq in their final group-stage match at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on Saturday, January 31, 2026. The result left both teams level on points, but Indonesia advanced as the top seed after recording a superior goal difference.
The team coached by Hector Souto proved more productive throughout the group stage, scoring 11 goals and conceding four across three matches. Iraq, meanwhile, scored eight goals and conceded five in the same number of games.
Kyrgyzstan finished third in the group with three points after recording one win and three losses, scoring eight goals and conceding 11. South Korea ended the group at the bottom with no points, having lost all three matches with four goals scored and 11 conceded.
With the group stage concluded, the quarterfinal matchups have been confirmed. Indonesia will face Vietnam, the runner-up in Group B, while Iraq will face Group B winner Thailand in the knockout stage. ***
