​RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s doubles shuttlers Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana delivered a confident performance during the Round of 32 at Thailand Masters 2026 on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Competing as the top seeds at Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, the Indonesian duo successfully eliminated Hong Kong's Hung Kuei Chun/and Lui Chun Wai, securing a convincing victory in straight games, 21-12, 21-11. 

Despite being dubbed as the tournament’s favorites, Bagas said they refused to underestimate their opponents at any point during the match.

"We tried to stay focused and 'in the zone' from the beginning to the end of the game," Bagas explained after the match. "We must not look down on our opponents and must remain confident while on the court," he added.

His partner, Leo, shared similar sentiments and expressed his relief at being able to perform well in the opening round. He noted that the pair is currently hungry for a major breakthrough after a period of mixed results on the international circuit.

"Our hope is to aim for the title first because it has been a long time since we stood on the podium," Leo said. 

"Let alone the podium; it feels like it has been a very long time since we even reached a semifinal in the World Tour," he remarked.

In addition to the doubles success, Indonesia also secured a victory in the men's singles category through the rising star Alwi Farhan. Alwi triumphed over China's representative, Hi Zhd An, winning in straight games, 21-18, 21-15. (Diva Rifdah/Sri Wahyuni)​
