RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s singles shuttler Alwi Farhan has officially secured a spot in the world's top 15 for the first time in his professional career, as confirmed by the BWF world ranking update released on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

This significant milestone follows his triumphant championship run at the BWF World Tour Super 500 Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026, which took place last week.

By accumulating a total of 59,230 points, Alwi successfully jumped four positions to reach the 14th rank globally, marking a new era of dominance for the young athlete on the international stage.

Quoting Antara, the addition of 9,200 points from his Indonesia Masters title marks the highest point haul the 20-year-old player has ever achieved in his career. This achievement also serves as Alwi's first-ever title at the Super 500 level.

This ranking surge allowed Alwi to surpass several prominent players, including Lu Guang Zu (China), Toma Junior Popov (France), Victor Lai (Canada), and Weng Hong Yang (China). Reaching the world's top 15 was a key short-term target for Alwi, as this zone is the threshold for "Top Committed" players.

Athletes in this tier are required to compete in all Super 750 and Super 1000 tournaments, at least two Super 500 events, and the BWF World Tour Finals if they qualify. This status cements Alwi's position among the elite competitors on the global badminton circuit.

Meanwhile, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is still struggling to improve his ranking due to a prolonged injury. Ginting currently sits at 63rd in the world, jumping 13 spots after reaching the second round of the Indonesia Masters 2026.

Another Indonesian shuttler, Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah, also saw a rise in his standing, climbing two spots to 44th in the world with 33,485 points. In contrast, the top of the men's singles rankings remains occupied by China's Shi Yu Qi with 108,247 points.

Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn holds the second position with 100,079 points, followed by Anders Antonsen of Denmark in third with 93,413 points. Jonatan Christie, who was absent from the Indonesia Masters 2026, currently maintains the fourth spot in the world with 84,174 points. ***
