RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian para-badminton player Qonitah Ikhtiar Sakuroh secured the gold medal in the Women’s Singles SL3 event at the 2025 ASEAN Para Games in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, after defeating Malaysia’s Siti Maisarah with a focused and disciplined performance that highlighted both skill and mental resilience.

“Alhamdulillah, I played well against Malaysia and was able to achieve my personal target of winning the gold medal,” Qonitah said after the match on Saturday afternoon, as quoted on the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports official website.

The gold and bronze medalist from the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Cambodia noted that it was her first time facing Malaysia’s Siti Maisarah on court. She described her young opponent as one to watch closely due to her potential and unpredictable improvements.

“It was also the first time I met the Malaysian representative. She is young and should be watched closely, as it is hard to know what improvements she might have prepared. I just tried to stay focused on my game,” Qonitah explained.

Indonesian para-badminton coach Jarot Hernowo said his squad had achieved its target of five gold medals so far, with additional events still ongoing. “Indonesia set a target of five gold medals, and Alhamdulillah, we have achieved it. We are also pleased to see an all-Indonesian final here. Hopefully, we can become the overall champions," he hoped. ***
