RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta: The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has returned the right to host the 2026 BWF World Junior Championships to the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

PBSI stated that Indonesia is currently unable to continue preparations to host the event. Head of Foreign Relations at PBSI, Bambang Roedyanto, revealed that this decision was difficult to make.

“However, this step was taken after thorough consideration and comprehensive internal discussions, prioritizing the best interests of all parties and the optimal continuity of the championship,” said Bambang in a written statement, as quoted by Antara in Jakarta on Saturday, January 24.

The event was previously scheduled to take place in Solo, Central Java, from October 12 to 18. PBSI recognizes that the BWF Junior World Championships are a global benchmark for the training and improvement of junior shuttlers.

PBSI also conveyed its apologies to the BWF and all stakeholders for any inconvenience that may arise from this decision.

Despite canceling its hosting duties, PBSI guarantees its commitment to advancing global badminton, and its cooperation with BWF will remain unchanged. “PBSI remains fully committed to supporting all programs and international championships organized by BWF,” said Bambang. ***
