Indonesian Secures Two More Gold in Judo at ASEAN Para Games

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian para-judo team added two more gold medals to its tally at the ASEAN Para Games 2025 in Thailand, as Rafli Ahnaf Shidqi and Novia Larassati triumphed in their respective finals at the Convention Hall, The Mall Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima, on Friday, January 23, 2026.
Rafli, 26, captured gold in the men’s individual J1 -70 kg category after collecting three victories in the round-robin format. His campaign began with an ippon win over Filipino judoka Edmond Montecillo, followed by another ippon against host representative Vitoon Kongsuk. His third bout ended in a walkover after Vietnam’s Van Duy Nguyen withdrew due to injury.
Novia, 24, claimed the women’s individual J1/J2 -52 kg title with four victories. She opened against compatriot Marialam Sihotang, edging out a narrow win by yuko after a tense four-minute contest. She then defeated Vietnam’s Kieu Oanh Trinh with an ippon throw, before overcoming Thai opponents Jiranan Kaemkaeo and Nattawan Suriya, both by ippon.
In addition to Rafli and Novia’s golds, Maria contributed a silver medal to the Indonesian para-judo contingent. By Friday, January 23, the team had secured four gold medals from four events contested since Thursday, January 22, underscoring Indonesia’s strong presence in the sport. ***
