RRI.CO.ID, Nakhon Ratchasima - Para swimmer Bayu Putra Yuda from Jambi successfully won a gold medal after finishing first in the Men's 200m Freestyle S10 para swimming final. He was able to silence the representative of the host country, Thailand, that has been his rival in recent years.

Additionally, he also set a new record in the men's 200m Freestyle S10 event with a time of 2 minutes 18 seconds. He said the S10 200m Freestyle record belongs to him because the event was only opened for competition at the ASEAN Para Games Thailand. "That event had never been competed in before, so it was opened and I immediately became the record holder," he conveyed.

Born in 1993, he believes that the power of prayers from his beloved ones and family, as well as overcoming his own ego, were the keys to achieving the highest honour. “Of course, the prayers from my family, I'm married. That's what motivates me to become a champion. The gold medal is dedicated to the Indonesian nation, my family,” he said.

"Because this is a long number, you have to be able to resist yourself. If we get carried away by our emotions, we'll run out of energy early and be left behind at the end. So, it's really going against yourself, essentially. "Keep your spirits up, friends. Our enemy isn't them, our enemy is ourselves," he stated.

Previously, Indonesia added another gold through Muhammad Gerry, who claimed victory in the men’s 100-meter butterfly SB6. His win widened Indonesia’s gold medal tally over regional rivals.

The gold medal haul was completed by Abdil Majid Rahmad, who triumphed in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke SB7. The impressive opening-day performance reaffirmed Indonesia’s strength in para swimming and provided strong momentum for the rest of the ASEAN Para Games 2025 in Thailand.
