KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian esports team Alter Ego secured their place in the Knockout Stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang-Bang M7 World Championship after defeating Myanmar’s Yangon Galacticos (YG) 2-0 in the Swiss Stage 3 on Monday, January 12, 2026.
The victory makes Alter Ego the first team to advance to the next round, which begins next week.
Led by Nino, Yazukee, Hijumee, Alekk, and Arfy, Alter Ego delivered a commanding performance. Despite conceding the first blood in Game 1, the Indonesian squad quickly regained control through disciplined play and strong teamwork, Antara reported.
They captured two lords and closed the game at the 16th minute with a 13-9 elimination score.
In Game 2, Alter Ego raised the tempo, leaving no room for YG to recover. With three turtles and two lords under their control, they dismantled the Myanmar team’s base. A dominant 21-7 elimination score sealed the 2-0 sweep.
Captain Nino expressed relief after the match. “It feels good because now we can focus more on practice. We don’t have any matches before the Knockout Stage, so we’ll be better prepared,” he said, as quoted on MPL Indonesia’s official site.
“I’m proud of the team and the coaching staff. This is our first time in the M-Series, but we weren’t nervous. Still, the journey isn’t over yet.”
Alter Ego’s path to the Knockout Stage has been smooth. They opened their campaign last Saturday by defeating Aurora Gaming from the Philippines, followed by a win over Chile’s Black Sentence Esports in Swiss Stage 2.
Meanwhile, fellow Indonesian representatives Onic face a tougher road. After beating Turkey’s Boostgate Esports in Swiss Stage 1, Sanz and his teammates fell to YG in Swiss Stage 2.
The “Yellow Hedgehogs” will meet Eastern European side Team Spirit in Swiss Stage 3 on Tuesday, fighting for their own spot in the Knockout Stage of the M7 World Championship. ***
