KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia captured its first-ever SEA Games gold medal in ice hockey after defeating host nation Thailand 3-2 in a dramatic final at the Thailand International Ice Hockey Arena in Bangkok on Friday, December 19, 2025.

The national team fell behind in the opening period when Patrick Forstner scored for Thailand with 5:42 remaining. Indonesia quickly responded, leveling the score through Jonathan Ryan Ferry Nugraha with 1:33 left in the first period, which ended 1-1, as reported by Antara.

Thailand regained the lead with 16:41 remaining in the second period, but Indonesia fought back in the final stages. With 1:56 left in the third period, the team equalized before Saveli Molchanov sealed the victory with the decisive goal in the last minute.

Indonesia’s path to the gold medal began with a commanding 6-1 win over Singapore on December 10, followed by a 5-1 victory against the Philippines the next day.

The team continued its strong form with a 3-2 win over Thailand on December 13 and a 10-4 triumph against Malaysia on December 14, securing a place in the semifinals.

In the semifinal, Indonesia defeated Singapore 8-3 to advance to the gold medal match, where they completed an unbeaten run with the historic victory over Thailand. ***
