KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s women’s compound archery team clinched a dramatic victory at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, edging out Singapore by a single point in a tense final that went down to the last arrow. The 228–227 win not only delivered gold but also ended a 12-year wait for Indonesia in this event.
Competing at Football Field 1 in Bang Kapi, Bangkok, the trio of Nurisa Dian Ashrifah, Ratih Zilizati Fadhly, and Yurike Nina Bonita Pereira displayed composure and resilience under immense pressure, sealing a result that marked Indonesia’s return to the top podium after last winning gold at the 2013 SEA Games in Naypyidaw. Since then, the team had managed bronze in Kuala Lumpur (2017) and silver in the Philippines (2019).
Ratih Zilizati Fadhly admitted the final carried enormous weight given the team’s history. “Masha Allah, the match was full of drama. Our deepest gratitude goes to the people of Indonesia; their prayers meant so much to us,” she said after the win.
She added that the gold medal was a powerful response to doubts surrounding the team, especially after failing to reach the podium at the previous Asian Games.
“The pressure was immense because women’s compound archery is making history again after such a long gap. At the Asian Games we came close, finishing fourth. With this new team and our incredible younger athletes, alhamdulillah, today we answered everything with gold,” Ratih explained.
She emphasized that the achievement proves Indonesia’s women’s compound team deserves recognition at the highest level in the region. “We wanted to show that we are Indonesia’s best athletes, and today we proved it,” she said.
For Yurike Nina Bonita Pereira, the medal carried personal significance as her first SEA Games gold after winning silver in the Philippines in 2019. “My focus was always on gold because I had never won it before. As for bonuses, honestly they don’t matter much, but of course they add motivation and happiness because athletes feel appreciated,” Yurike noted.
The triumph capped Indonesia’s archery campaign at the 2025 SEA Games and signaled a revival of women’s compound archery, which had waited more than a decade to reclaim gold. ***
