KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s rowing team continued to strengthen its medal haul at the 2025 SEA Games, securing one gold, one silver, and one bronze in Wednesday’s competition at the Royal Thai Navy Rowing-Canoe Training Center in Rayong.
The gold medal came from the men’s double sculls (M2X), with La Memo and Rendi Setia Maulana delivering a strong performance, Antara reported.
Aprianto and Ferdiansyah earned silver in the men’s lightweight pair (LM2-), while Chelsea Corputty, Issa Behuku, Mutiara Rahma Putri, and Nurtang claimed bronze in the women’s quadruple sculls (W4X).
These results add to Indonesia’s earlier successes in rowing, which include two golds and one silver. The additional golds were won in the men’s single sculls (M1X) and men’s lightweight quadruple sculls (LM4X), while the silver came from the women’s four (W4-).
Memo and Rendi secured their gold with a time of 7 minutes 18.507 seconds, beating Thailand’s Narongsak Naksaeng and Premanut Wattananusith (7:21.404) and the Philippines’ Ryinji Penaredondo and Maxilom van Adrian (7:51.922). For Memo, it was his second gold of the Games, following his victory in the men’s single sculls (M1X) on Tuesday.
The duo showed consistency over the 2 km course, covering the first 500 meters in 1:43.91 before conserving energy in the middle section and finishing strongly with 1:44.807 in the final 500 meters. Their strategy proved decisive against Thailand, whose rowers pushed hard in the middle but faded in the closing stretch.
In the men’s lightweight pair (LM2-), Aprianto and Ferdiansyah finished with a time of 7:59.736, trailing Vietnam’s Hoang Van Dat and Nguyen Phu, who took gold in 7:53.080. The bronze went to Thailand’s Siwakorn Wongpin and Nawamin Dechudomrat (8:08.138).
In the women’s quadruple sculls (W4X), Chelsea, Issa, Mutiara, and Nurtang recorded 7:56.176, finishing behind Vietnam’s gold medalists Bui Thi Thu Hien, Nguyen Thi Giang, Ding Thi Hao, and Pham Thi Hue (7:42.680), and Thailand’s silver medalists Matinee Raruen, Rawiwan Sukkaew, Jirakit Phuetthonglang, and Parisa Champudsa (7:46.340).
Indonesia also competed in the women’s lightweight single sculls (LW1X), where Lola Hanarina Blegur placed fourth with a time of 9:26.102. Vietnam’s Ho Thi Duy won gold (9:08.053), the Philippines’ Joanie Delgaco took silver (9:14.102), and Myanmar’s Win Ni Lar earned bronze (9:23.780).
So far, Indonesian rowers have collected three golds, two silvers, and one bronze, complementing the canoeing team’s tally of two golds, five silvers, and six bronzes.
Indonesia’s rowing campaign is not yet over, with two coastal rowing events remaining: the men’s single (CM1X), represented by Asuhan Pattiiha, and the women’s single (CW1X), represented by Arni Silva Pattipeiluhu. ***
