KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian women’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) squad fell short against the Philippines in the semifinals of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

In a best-of-five (BO5) match at Sala Phra Kieo, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, the team—featuring Cindy Laurent, Michelle Denise, Venny Lim, and Viorelle Valencia—was defeated 1-3, Antara reported.

Earlier in the day, Indonesia advanced to the semifinals after sweeping Laos 3-0 in the knockout stage. Just two hours later, they faced the Philippines in a tense battle. Despite narrowing the score to 1-2, Indonesia ultimately lost 1-3 and missed out on a place in the final.

The defeat ended their bid to defend the SEA Games title they won in Cambodia in 2023. However, the team bounced back strongly in the bronze medal match, defeating Myanmar 3-0 to secure a podium finish.

The bronze medal in Bangkok marked the end of Indonesia’s flawless streak as the “Queens” of Mobile Legends.

The squad had previously dominated international competitions, winning the IESF World Esports Championship (WEC) 2024 in Riyadh, the Asian Esports Games 2024 in Thailand, and the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh. Most recently, they defended their IESF WEC 2025 crown in Kuala Lumpur with a perfect record, not dropping a single game.

This latest achievement underscores the team’s consistency at the global level, even as they adjust to new challenges.

The women’s MLBB bronze adds to Indonesia’s esports medal tally, following similar results from the men’s MLBB and FC Online squads. Attention now turns to the Free Fire category, where Indonesia will field two teams with hopes of securing gold.
