KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian men’s singles shuttler Alwi Farhan believes that embracing criticism and advice from those around him is the key to maintaining consistency in his game.

The 20-year-old athlete said he has benefited greatly from guidance provided by national men’s singles coach Indra Wijaya and the team’s psychologist during training camps at the national badminton center (Pelatnas).

That support, Alwi noted, was instrumental in his recent success at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, where he delivered an impressive performance and returned home with two gold medals, one in men’s singles and another in the men’s team event.

“The most important thing is not to be easily satisfied, always stay humble. The journey will be full of temptations, and both my coach and psychologist have reminded me of that,” Alwi told reporters in Tangerang on Monday, December 15, 2025, as quoted by Antara.

“I must always listen to criticism and advice from others, because all of that can motivate me. That’s the key,” he added.

With his recent string of strong performances, Alwi is aware that expectations from Indonesian badminton fans will only grow, particularly in the men’s singles sector.

The 2025 Macau Open champion said he hopes to prove himself through consistent performances in the future.

“Going forward, more people will be watching me, and the public will pay closer attention. But I hope that in men’s singles, players like myself, Ubed, and the younger generation can shoulder this heavy responsibility together,” Alwi said. ***
