KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s rafting athletes have made their mark on the international stage. The junior women’s team from the Indonesian Rafting Federation (FAJI) of South Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency, South Sumatra, won medals at the World Rafting Championship (WRC) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

FAJI South OKU chairman Didi Indawan said the achievement brought pride not only to Indonesia but also to the people of South OKU. “This international achievement complements the series of successes of the FAJI South OKU U-23 junior team,” he said in Muaradua on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, as quoted by Antara.

On the first day of the championship, organized by the International Rafting Federation (IRF), the junior women’s team captured gold in the sprint event and silver in the head-to-head category, setting a new record for Indonesia.

Didi explained that the five athletes sent to the competition were the best talents from South OKU and were ready to represent Indonesia at the world level. “Previously, these athletes had achieved success nationally, so they were deemed worthy of advancing to the world championship,” he said.

With this achievement, South OKU has further established itself as a region with strong whitewater rafting potential, both nationally and internationally. The success reflects the quality of rafting training and development in the regency. ***
