KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian tennis player Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITF M15 Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, November 20, 2025, after his second-round opponent withdrew, marking a smooth passage in the tournament’s singles draw while also pursuing success in doubles alongside Christopher Rungkat.
ITF M15 is a mid-level professional tennis tournament organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), offering a total prize of USD 15,000. It provides players with the opportunity to earn ATP or WTA ranking points, helping them qualify for higher-level events like the ATP Challenger or WTA 125 tournaments.
The event typically features both singles and doubles competitions in a knockout format and attracts rising young players, local talents, and experienced players aiming to improve their world rankings.
Rifqi secured his place in the last eight after his opponent, Saudi Arabia’s Ammar Faleh Alhogbani, withdrew during their second-round match on Thursday, November 20. The fifth-seeded Rifqi was leading 6-1, 5-0 in their head-to-head encounter, according to ITF Records, as quoted by Antara.
The two players previously met at the M15 Manshaan in China in late February, where Rifqi won in three sets.
In the quarterfinals, Rifqi will face New Zealand qualifier Corban Crowther, who defeated local third seed Mitsuki Wei Kang Leong 6-1, 6-4 in the second round.
Rifqi is also competing in doubles alongside Christopher Rungkat. The fourth-seeded pair advanced to the semifinals after defeating Indonesia-Australia duo Anthony Susanto/Arjun Mehrotra 6-2, 6-4.
In the semifinals, Rifqi/Rungkat will meet Denmark-Italy team Sebastian Grundtvig Jorgensen/Lorenzo Lorusso, who upset the second-seeded Indian-Thai pair Sai Karteek Reddy Ganta/Thantub Suksumrarn 7-6(4), 6-3.
Besides Rifqi, other Indonesian players in the second week of ITF M15 Kuala Lumpur include Christopher Rungkat, Anthony Susanto, Lucky Candra Kurniawan, and Tegar Abdi Satrio Wibowo.
Lucky/Tegar, competing in doubles, were eliminated in the quarterfinals. In singles, both were ousted in the first round, losing to players from New Zealand and the Netherlands, respectively.
Meanwhile, Christopher Rungkat, a doubles specialist, focused solely on doubles, while Anthony Susanto, competing in singles, exited in the opening round after losing to a Japanese opponent. ***
