Indonesia’s Only UCI BMX Race Set in Banyuwangi

KBRN, Jakarta: The Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2025 kicked off on 15-16 November with 207 riders from Indonesia and abroad competing on one of the world’s longest and most technically demanding BMX tracks, as the event returns as the only Union Cycliste International (UCI)-listed BMX race in Indonesia this year.
The Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2025 is the only BMX cycling race in Indonesia included in the agenda of the UCI. It will be held at the BMX Supercross Circuit in Muncar Subdistrict, Banyuwangi, East Java, a circuit known as one of the longest tracks in the world.
“This year, the Banyuwangi BMX Supercross is the only BMX racing event in Indonesia included in the official UCI 2025 calendar, and even at the ASEAN level, there are only two events listed in the official UCI agenda this year, Indonesia in Banyuwangi and another in Thailand,” said Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani in Banyuwangi on Friday, November 14, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Youth and Sports Agency, M. Alfin Kurniawan, said the cycling event is also participated in by riders from various countries, besides Indonesia, there are competitors from Latvia, China, and Malaysia, with a total of 207 riders.
“This BMX Supercross event features the C1 race category, where participants will compete to be the fastest across 19 contested categories. They are divided into three age groups for both male and female riders, Challenge (5–16 years), Junior (17–18 years), and Elite (19 years and above),” he explained.
Race Director of the Banyuwangi BMX Supercross 2025, Dadang Haries Poernomo, added that the Muncar Banyuwangi circuit has highly challenging characteristics and difficulty levels.
It also has one of the longest tracks in the world, with a length of 465 meters, as well as four high-jump obstacles, the most anywhere in the world.
“This circuit is also equipped with two start gates, 5 meters and 8 meters high, and seven lines with different characteristics that can be used for various racing classes,” said Dadang.
The Muncar BMX Circuit in Banyuwangi, East Java, is an Olympic-standard supercross circuit that has been revitalized by the Ministry of Public Works, involving internationally experienced architects. ***
