KBRN, Jakarta: Former Uzbekistan national team coach Timur Kapadze is reportedly ready to take over as head coach of the Indonesia national football team after leaving his role as assistant coach in Uzbekistan, with negotiations between both parties reportedly reaching the final stage on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

According to Uzbek media Zamin, Kapadze expressed his readiness to lead Indonesia after completing his role as assistant coach for Uzbekistan. “I am ready to lead the Indonesia national team. I am currently free and awaiting offers,” Kapadze said, as quoted by Antara.

The report, citing Championat.asia, described Timur Kapadze as the front-runner for the position following Indonesia’s split with former coach Patrick Kluivert. Negotiations between the parties are said to have reached the final stages, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

Timur Kapadze, 44, previously guided Uzbekistan to the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, securing third place in the third round of the Asian zone qualification. Under his leadership, Uzbekistan finished second in Group A, earning 21 points from 10 matches, six wins, three draws, and one loss.

Despite this achievement, the Uzbekistan Football Federation appointed Fabio Cannavaro as head coach, returning Kapadze to an assistant role. After assisting Cannavaro in two matches, he decided to leave the Uzbekistan national team in search of new challenges.

Timur Kapadze’s coaching career started as assistant to Srecko Katanec. He was promoted to head coach in January following Katanec’s resignation due to health reasons. ***
