KBRN, Jakarta: The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Indonesia expressed its appreciation for the strategic meeting with Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir in Jakarta on Monday, November 10, 2025. The discussion centered on Indonesia’s target of securing 120 gold medals at the upcoming ASEAN Para Games in Thailand.

NPC Chairperson Senny Marbun emphasized the significance of the minister’s guidance. “We’ve received valuable direction from Minister Erick,” he stated in a press release received by RRI on Monday.

Chef de Mission Reda Manthovani reaffirmed the medal target, calling it a realistic goal based on thorough calculations. “Our target is 120 gold medals,” Reda declared, noting that national training camps have been underway since November 1.

Minister Erick Thohir acknowledged Thailand’s aggressive stance as host nation, with the White Elephant Country aiming for 174 gold medals. “Thailand is very aggressive; they’re determined to take the top spot,” Erick remarked. Current projections suggest Indonesia is well-positioned to contend for runner-up.

The meeting also addressed long-term planning for disability sports. The Ministry and NPC agreed to develop a strategic roadmap extending to 2045.

Minister Erick stressed the importance of program alignment and transparency. “We cannot build a strong sports ecosystem without openness,” he said.

NPC Deputy Secretary General Rima Ferdianto welcomed the initiative, confirming that the committee will draft a comprehensive blueprint for disability sports development. “At minimum, we need a blueprint that covers up to 2029,” Rima stated. The document will serve as a guiding framework through 2045.

This collaboration supports President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita vision, which prioritizes human resource development and sporting excellence.

NPC Indonesia remains firmly committed to raising the Red and White flag on the international stage. To achieve this, all stakeholders are ready to move forward together in pursuit of national pride and achievement. (Diffa Sephiawardhani/Sri Wahyuni)
