Indonesia Prepares to Compete at 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games

KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian team is preparing for the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) which will bwe held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21, 2025, with a small formation, but still bringing a strong fighting spirit. The Indonesian contingent is present in Saudi Arabia to showcase the best abilities of its young athletes.

“We are striving to provide maximum support for the team so they can achieve success for Indonesia,” said Endri Erawan, the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian team for the 2025 ISG, in Jakarta on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Indonesia is fielding 38 athletes from seven sports, including swimming, fencing, weightlifting, muaythai, wrestling, camel racing, and pencak silat as a demonstration sport. They are accompanied by 14 officials and 13 members of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) headquarters.

Endri said the athletes had undergone intensive training camps ahead of their departure to Riyadh. The decision not to bring the whole team was made because several key athletes had to prepare for the 2024 SEA Games in Thailand, which are scheduled to take place around the same time.

Nevertheless, the Indonesian NOC official emphasized that all athletes were prepared to perform confidently, optimally, and to bring Indonesia's message of sportsmanship to the world. “We want the athletes to bring the unwavering spirit and noble values of the nation,” said Endri.

Indonesia previously achieved great success as the grand champion of the 2013 ISG when it hosted the event in Jakarta and Palembang, with 36 gold, 36 silver, and 34 bronze medals. At the 2022 ISG in Konya, Türkiye, the Garuda contingent won 12 gold, 12 silver, and 21 bronze medals.

Endri added that the ISG, which is participated in by 57 member countries of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA), is not just a sporting event, but a platform to strengthen solidarity, brotherhood, and tolerance. The Indonesian team is prepared to demonstrate pride and excellence to bring pride to Indonesia on the global stage.

Athletes are also reminded to uphold the warrior spirit, friendship, and respect for one another, in line with Indonesia's noble values. At this year's ISG, several national sponsors, such as Mills, Aice, and SVRG, are supporting the athletes during their time in Saudi Arabia. ***
