KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian Aquatics Executive Board (PB Akuatik Indonesia) continues strengthening the national athletes' preparations for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this coming December.

Several international trials have been planned to help athletes get used to the pressure of high-level competition.

The Executive Chairman of PB Akuatik Indonesia, Harlin Rahardjo, said that various trial matches will be held in Japan, South Korea, and China. “With preparation and many tryouts, we can hone not only the technical skills but also the mental strength of the athletes,” said Harlin in Jakarta on Friday, October 24, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

These trial matches are part of a continuous development strategy in swimming, water polo, and diving. Young swimmers will compete in Japan, the men's water polo team is scheduled to go to South Korea, while the women's water polo team will hone their skills in China.

In addition to the SEA Games, PB Akuatik is also preparing athletes for various regional competitions, including the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain and the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.

These multiple trials are necessary to measure the athletes' stamina and international adaptability.

Harlin emphasized that training not only focuses on physical and technical aspects but also on mental strengthening. “We also pay attention to psychology so that athletes can perform optimally or even ‘ burst onto the scene’ at the SEA Games,” he said.

Regarding medal targets, PB Akuatik Indonesia is still awaiting the Ministry of Youth and Sports' evaluation results. Opportunities have been mapped out for potential sports such as swimming and diving, but the target numbers will be officially announced only after a joint decision is made.

These measured preparatory steps demonstrate Indonesia's commitment to maintaining its aquatic tradition of excellence and ensuring full readiness before competing in this year's biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia.

“Before the Ministry and the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia) announcement, we cannot speak about the medal target,” he said. ***
