KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian national basketball team will play a series of trial matches in Australia. These trials are part of the preparations for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand in December.

National team player Andakara Prastawa Dhyaksa said that these trials aim to strengthen the chemistry among the players and adjust the game system as intended by the coach.

“Our preparations have been solid, and the flow of play has improved. But there’s still room for growth, and we’re heading to Australia with positive vibes,” Prastawa said in Jakarta on Monday, October 20, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

He noted that the team recently completed its selection process, narrowing the roster from 24 to 18, and then to 15 players who will travel to Australia. The squad is now training with a leaner composition.

Prastawa believes that the team's optimal performance can be achieved by adapting to new strategies and recognizing each player's playing style. He said that the trial in Australia will help the team adapt, especially with the new squad that will make its international debut.

“These trials are crucial for building cohesion and familiarizing ourselves with the coach’s system. We need to understand each player’s strengths and get used to the coach’s game plan. There’s no room for mistakes,” said the Pelita Jaya Jakarta captain.

Having previously played in Australia with both club and national teams, Prastawa said the experience will aid the team’s adaptation process, particularly with the current squad’s diverse composition.

The national team is scheduled to return to Indonesia in November to continue its training camp ahead of the SEA Games. The results of the trial matches will serve as evaluation material for the coaching staff before finalizing the 12-player roster for the regional multi-sport event. ***
