KBRN, Denmark: Indonesian men's singles player Jonatan Christie won the championship of the Denmark Open 2025. He received appreciation and congratulations from the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir.

Minister Erick congratulated Jonatan Christie for bringing honor to Indonesia after defeating top seed Shi Yu Qi from China 13-21, 21-15, 21-15 in the final at the Jyske Bank Arena on Sunday (10/19).

He also considered Jonathan Christie's perseverance at the 2025 Denmark Open to be an inspiration to other Indonesian badminton athletes.

"Congratulations to Jonathan Christie for winning the 2025 Denmark Open. Jojo's performance yesterday taught us the meaning of tenacity on the field, patriotic spirit in bringing home the title, and focused performance throughout the match. Jojo's success is also an inspiration for our athletes," Minister Erick said.

After the match, Jonathan Christie expressed gratitude for winning the final of the 2025 Denmark Open. He explained that he tried his best throughout the match to defeat the top-seeded Chinese badminton player Shi Yu Qi.

"First of all, thank God for winning again in the Super 750 category. Playing against Shi Yuqi is always difficult because he is a very mature player, but I did my best because the conditions here are always windy and sometimes windy, so strategy plays a big role," Jonatan said after the match.
