KBRN, Jakarta: The Indonesian E-sports Executive Board (PB ESI) has set its sights on making Indonesia the grand champion at the 2025 SEA Games, scheduled to take place in Thailand this December. If achieved, it would mark the highest milestone in the nation’s e-sports history.
“We’ve prepared a clear vision for every competition category at the SEA Games,” said PB ESI Executive Chairman Bambang Sunarwibowo in Jakarta on Thursday, October 2, as quoted by antaranews.com. He emphasized that full support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and PB ESI’s partners is essential to realizing this goal.
Indonesia’s e-sports contingent has been undergoing intensive preparation through a five-month training camp. Athlete rosters have been finalized, and participants are receiving international-standard coaching.
PB ESI’s ambition builds on Indonesia’s success at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, where the national team claimed the grand championship title with three gold and two silver medals.
The Mobile Legends earned gold medals: Bang Bang (MLBB) Women’s team, the Valorant team, and the PUBG Mobile team. Silver medals went to the Crossfire team and the PUBG Mobile solo category.
Bambang expressed optimism that with structured training and strong government backing, Indonesia could set new records at Southeast Asia’s largest multi-sport event. He highlighted athlete morale and professionalism as key factors in achieving victory.
Meanwhile, MLBB Women’s athlete Cindy Laurent Siswanto, known as Cinny, is aiming for back-to-back gold medals at the SEA Games. “We’re determined to reach that goal, and we’ll be training as hard as possible to make it happen,” she said.
Cinny acknowledged the rising competitiveness in Southeast Asia, noting that many national teams are rapidly developing. “We’re definitely keeping an eye on them,” she added.
Cinny was part of the gold-winning MLBB Women’s team at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, alongside Michelle Denise Siswanto, Vivi Indrawaty, Viorella Valencia Chen, Venny Lim, Isnaini Nurfajri Machdita, and Violetta Aurelia.
PB ESI remains committed to a seven-month training program and continuous athlete development to ensure Indonesia maintains its competitive edge on the international stage. ***
