Indonesia's First Chess School, Museum Receive MURI Records

KBRN, Jakarta: The Utut Adianto Chess School (SCUA) and the Indonesian Chess Museum have been officially recognized by the Indonesian Museum of World Records (MURI) for their groundbreaking contributions to the sport. The two institutions received MURI records for being the first chess school and the first chess museum in the country.
The awards ceremony was held at the Jaya Suprana Institute building in Jakarta on Monday. MURI founder Jaya Suprana personally presented the awards to SCUA founder Eka Putra Wirya, who is also an advisor of the Indonesian Chess Association (Percasi).
In his statement to the press, Wirya expressed his pride and gratitude for the recognition. He said the establishment of both the school and the museum was a testament to his deep passion for chess.
"I am very grateful for these MURI records for the first chess school and the first chess museum in Indonesia. This award motivates us to work even harder, and we are surprised to have been given these records," Wirya said.
He added that his commitment to the sport is unwavering, and he is determined to help an Indonesian athlete one day become a chess world champion.
"That is my primary goal and my hope for the future," he stated. "And I am confident that with the right family support and proper training, it is not impossible for us to produce a world champion from Indonesia."

He praised SCUA for its significant contributions to the development of chess in Indonesia, especially among young players.
In addition to the chess institutions, MURI also recognized several other inspiring individuals and organizations at the event. Among the honorees were Chairman of the Indonesian Zoo Association (PKBSI), Rahmat Shah, and keroncong singer Sundari Untinasih Soekotjo. ***
