KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesia’s national amateur boxing team delivered a strong performance at the 4-Corner Boxing Championship in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, held from September 18 to 20, 2025.

The five-member squad returned home with a total of five medals: three golds, one silver, and one bronze.

Team manager Osco Olfriady Letunggamu, who also serves as treasurer of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association (PP Pertina), expressed pride in the athletes’ achievements. “Thank God, all of the Indonesian boxing athletes won medals. This is the result of long-term hard work and dedication,” he said on Saturday, September 20, 2025, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Yoshua Holy Masihor secured gold medals in the 54 kg category, Eliezer Gonzales in the 60 kg category, and Alfino Caesar in the 75 kg category. Krispinus Mariano Wonda earned silver in the 51 kg class, while Mohammad Reza Midun took bronze in the 69 kg division.

Senior coach Dufri Masihor, a gold medalist at the 1997 SEA Games, praised the athletes’ discipline and determination, as well as the support from the public and PP Pertina. Fellow coach Vinky Montolalu emphasized that building champions requires time and commitment.

“It takes four to six years of training to become a national champion,” Vinky said. He explained that the process begins with months of basic footwork before progressing to years of punching technique development. “We modified the program to focus more on speed, endurance, and conditioning.”

The athletes received a warm welcome upon their return to Indonesia on Saturday at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Cengkareng. PP Pertina Chairperson Hillary Brigitta Lasut led the reception, accompanied by Vice Chairperson Trinovi Khairani.

“I was also happy to see their expressions because they felt their efforts were appreciated,” Hillary said. ***
