KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian women’s doubles pair Lanny Tria Mayasari and Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi have vowed to improve their on-court rotation following a first-round exit at the China Masters 2025.

The newly-formed duo faced a formidable challenge, falling to top-seeded Chinese pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning in straight sets, 11-21, 16-21.

This was only their second tournament together, having debuted as a pair at the Hong Kong Open 2025. Despite the early loss, both players expressed optimism about their growing chemistry.

“We feel that we’re getting to know and understand each other better,” Tiwi said. “In the future, we want to continue improving our rotation and the flow of our shots. Hopefully, we’ll be much more cohesive in our next tournament,” she added, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Lanny acknowledged that rotational issues remain, but noted progress compared to their previous performance.

“In our first match at the Hong Kong Open last week, our rotation wasn’t good, and we hadn’t found the pattern we wanted. I think in this match, even though we lost, our rotation was already much better,” she explained.

She also drew positives from the defeat, expressing satisfaction with their ability to vary attacks and disrupt the rhythm of their top-ranked opponents.

“In the first game and early in the second, we struggled against them. But after the second-game interval, we tried to change our playing style by avoiding a fast-paced exchange,” Lanny said. “We used a lot of variations, like lifting the shuttlecock or placing it, and that made them uncomfortable and led to errors.” ***
