KBRN, Jakarta: Indonesian wushu athlete Seraf Naro Siregar has made history by clinching his first individual gold medal at the 2025 Wushu World Championship in Brazil.

His victory in the Men’s Daoshu event, which emphasizes elegant sword techniques, marks a major milestone in his third appearance at the prestigious tournament.

Held from August 28 to October 7, the championship featured participants from dozens of countries. The Indonesian national team returned home with a total of one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals, with Seraf standing out as the sole gold medalist.

His individual triumph is especially significant given his previous accomplishments at the event.

In 2019, he won gold in the team Duilian category in Shanghai. Four years later, in the United States, he earned two silver medals in the Changquan and Gunshu disciplines.

“I’m proud to contribute a gold medal for Indonesia. This is a historic moment in my three appearances at the world championships, as it’s my first individual gold,” Seraf said upon arriving at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Seraf’s success in Brazil has boosted his confidence ahead of the upcoming XXXIII SEA Games in Thailand this December. He remains optimistic about securing another gold medal for Indonesia at the regional multi-sport event.

At the 2021 SEA Games in Vietnam, Seraf captured gold in the Daoshu and Gunshu combination event and added a bronze in Changquan. However, his performance dipped at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, where he managed only a bronze. ***
